India’s rate of female labour force participation, which has declined steadily for over forty years, is now among the lowest in the world. This course explores the route to a world where Indian women can become more equal participants in the economy, earn fair wages, and have social security.

Module 1: Gender Inequality and Work

In this module, we learn about the gendered social norms surrounding work and how they deny women opportunities to pursue decent work.

Module 2: Introduction to Labour Standards

In this module, we learn about interventions in the labour market through law and through international conventions, that protect wages and conditions of work from being pushed below acceptable levels, and prohibits exploitation.

Module 3: Collective Action for Decent Work

In this module, we learn how decent work for women can be pursued through policy and through collective action.
