Business & Human Rights Course, for Students, Policy Makers & Civil Society Practitioners

Intensive Course on Business and Human Rights | 8 – 12 July, 2019, New Delhi

The Indian Law Institute (ILI) in collaboration with Human Rights and Business Academy (HURBA) and Oxfam India is organizing an intensive course on “Business and Human Rights” (BHR) from Monday, 8 July to Friday, 12 July 2019. The course will be held at the ILI in New Delhi.

The course aims to expose law/business/management students, lawyers, civil society representatives, policy makers and corporate executives to international and comparative perspectives in the field of BHR. After completing this intensive course, participants are expected to develop an informed understanding on:

– The nature and extent of the human rights responsibilities of business enterprises and their role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs);

– How companies could discharge their human rights responsibilities (including by conducting human rights due diligence) and resolve dilemmas in their day-to-day operations, and;

– Various remedial tools available to the victims to seek access to effective remedies for business-related human rights abuses.

The seminar-style interactive course will be taught, on a pro bono basis, by a team of leading scholars and practitioners from India and abroad.
